Scrub nurse in 6 months! Read Angelo's feedback, Italian nurse working at UHS

Becoming a scrub nurse in 6 months? It’s possible in the UK! Read on for Angelo’s feedback, an Italian nurse currently working at University Hospital of Southampton.

What made you decide to work as a nurse in the United Kingdom?

The opportunity to grow professionally was the main reason I decided to move to and work in the UK. Moreover, the possibility of working abroad for me was a unique and once-in-a-lifetime event.

Are you satisfied with your decision?

Yes, I am satisfied with the choice I made. I get on well with my colleagues and the work environment is excellent!

Wow's life in Southampton with your new job?

I was recruited by Southampton General Hospital as a scrub nurse in the hepatobiliary department. Since graduating, this had always been my preferred area of practice, and the hospital accommodated my request to work in the theatre. During a six-month probation period, I trained to become a scrub nurse, with invaluable support and guidance from my colleagues. They helped me develop the skills I needed to work independently and become an effective member of the team.

What did you most appreciated in the recruitment process?

I greatly appreciated the training provided by Vitae Professionals' English teachers. They were always available, attentive, and ready to correct my mistakes and answer any questions I had. Additionally, my recruiter, Eleonora, offered unwavering support throughout the recruitment process and was consistently available whenever I needed assistance.

Which was the biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge for me was, without a doubt, the OET test. From the very beginning, I felt apprehensive about it, but through dedicated study and the support of the teachers at Vitae Professionals, I gained a clear understanding of how to approach the exam and pass it successfully.

How was your experience with Vitae Professionals?

My experience with Vitae professionals was positive. The dedication of the team in helping healthcare professionals to work abroad is incredible. I am happy with the path I have made, and I would do it again! I want to thank Eleonora and all the English teachers that guided me along this journey. I am happy to work in the UK!

Thank you, Angelo, for your kind words and continuous commitment along the way! We wish you a bright career!!
